Week 3, Alaska (US), Yukon, British Columbia, Alberta (CAN)

20/6

Rose at 9 (!!!). Fresh! Belated breakfast, and showered. Oh yeah. Superclean dream machine. On my way to the wifi caffee now... Laterz.
Spend the day (trying to) wifi, very nice lunch (pork chops), explored chicken (took 10 minutes; they do have their own music podium though (see pic)), short walks, coffees, and then beers.

Dinner, campfire, guitar.
Slept at 12.

21/6

Overslept. Woke up at 6.50, on the road at 7.30. No, did not skip breakfast!
On the way to the Canadian border now. Then to Dawson city for 2 nights. See ya in Canada.

The border crossing went smooth. We arrived at the campingspot at 14.00 or so. Times for the big truck wash... we thought, but then it started to  hail. It showered like crazy.

We had to shelter in the truck and now my tent is wet on the inside. Hope it dries before i hit the sack.
After that we took the ferry (there's a small ferry going up and down continuously) and explored Dawson city.

Nice little miners town, cosy and friendly. Sipped a beer at the JJJ hotel with Bijan and Didi. Going to update my blog there tomorrow i think.
Ferry back and now waiting for dinner.

While most of the group went back to town after dinner, i stayed at the campsite. Went for an early night sleep, to be woken up again around 2 am by vomiting noises.

22/6

Rose at 8, relaxed breakfast and off to town for laundry, shower, wifi. Salmon soup to finish it off. Ferry back to return the laundry and to town again to do shopping for cookgroup of tomorrow.
Returned for dinner, 3rd ferry to town for beer and a visit to the casino.

Not my cup of tea. So, campfire, a beer, good conversations and another early night.

PS: rumour goes that Will is looking for another driver and make one of the aussie/kiwi girls tourleader. Not that happy with that idea.
Should be from Mexico and onwards. Lets see...

23/6

Rose too early, left too early... we always seem to be ahead of schedule. Long drive (almost 600 K), but nice scenery.

I really don't mind long days on the truck. We found a beautiful camping spot near a river (i think it's still the yokon river).

Laura, Didi and i had cookgroup. We made a nice minestrone in record time (1 hour or so).

24/6

Rose too early again, breakfasted too early (made by us, the cookgroup).

Now we are waiting for Will, who is still doing some maintenance on the truck. Laterz...

Made a long day on the truck with several stops to see the wildlife. Really amazing. A picture says more than 1000 words, so take a look...

At lunch i managed to do some shoppings, so for the next two wildcamp days i'll be all right.

In the evening we visited this german couple, that had travelled over central and north america for almost a year in their landrover.
Campfire and a nice spaghetti finished of the day. Had a good night of sleep.

25/6

Rose at 6.30 , breakfast and on the road again for the 3rd day of doing long distances. Great wildlife and scenery again... take a look....

Lunch at Fort Nelson. Huge oldtimer collection up there...

Then more driving. We must have done over 600 K today (which is a lot, believe me).
Found a very nice wild camping spot to spend the night. Saw an episode of Fringe and slept like a log as usual.

26/6

Rose at 6.00, breakfast , packed and on the road again. First stop at Walmart. Wifi!! Yeah!! Didn't need much shopping, so... update my digital life. Laterz...

We drove and drove, lunch in Dawson creek, purchased booz, and on we went. Round 18.00 found a comfortable campingspot (with toilet!), and then it started to rain and rain and rain and well ... rain.  My tent is soaking wet, so i don't want to put in my sleeping bag yet. What to do ... oh yeah... have a beer  (or two).

If not drowned, see you next week.
