Week 4, British Columbia, Alberta, Edmonton (CAN)

27/6

During the night the rain went away, and i woke up in a dry tent. Breakfast and the last part of the long way to Jasper NP. We arrived at Jasper round noon.  Went to the visitor center to get info and to the local library for wifi.
Had lunch with Bijan. Went to the campingspot, 5 K outside of Jasper. Put up tent, tried tonwalk to Jasper butndidn't have the energy for a 10 K walk anymore. Put some fresh strings on Wills guitar,  had a nice curry for dinner played until my fingers went sore, beer afterwards.
Take a look at our backyard for today.. .

Amazing isn't it? Get some sleep now (and an episode of fringe).

28/6

Woke up at 8.00. It seemed that elks (big deers  had attacked some of our tents. They can be agressive. Espacially the cows. Panic. People moving tents... i slept through the event though.

Anyway... Bijan, Steph, Lauretta, Luts and I walked to town (5K, kind of hike on itself) to do the usual stuf: coffee, explore town, wifi, and an hike attempt, but it started pouring. So, i walked back around 5. Walked for 14 K all in all.
After dinner i did some laundry, we made a fire, and guitar playing and Kerry's singing made it a pleasant evening. Hit the hay around 11. No elk attack (as far as i know)...

29/6

Sun, trucktrips: Maligne Canyon and Maligne lake

After thehikes i haf a very nice Belgium white beer with "crazy grandpa" (Ken)

<Ken's pic>

BTW: My tablet is broken, so i have to do everything by phone. I will update more pictures when i find a decent internet cafe.

The campground is crowded with marmots. Cute little rodents ...

<pic to be added>

30/6

Breakfast at 8, shopping, on the road to ...
Take pics of mnt Edith cavelland Athabasca pass (p).

Scenery visits all day long. A pic says more i guess...

Found a campspot early. Good, since i had cookgroup. Leftovers it was.  After dinner washed my shirt in the river. Had a (forbidden!) beer, campfire and guitar.

1/7

Made breakfast, on our way to lake Louise now. Beautiful scenery again. Several stops for pictures (Mistaya Canyon, Lake Waterfowl, Bow Summit). Have a look.

Did a bustour to the village and lake Moraine in  Lake Louise with Bijan.

Then we headed for a campground near Banff. But... it was the 1st of July and that's Canada day.  A public holiday. No spots available. So, on our way to Calgary. Found a nice campingspot near town.

About a dozen took a cab to town. The other half stayed for food and shower. Then another shower... take a look.... scarey huh.

Well it poured for only a few minutes and then blue sky. Oh yeah. Weather forcast for tomorrow: 27 degrees. Nice day to explore Calgary. Gonna grab a beer now. Laterz...

2/7

Rose at 8.00, quick breakfast, cab to down town Calgary.

Walk to the river, drink, tablet repairshop... too bad. Beyond repair. Having lunch now with 4 fellow travelers.
Afternoon: computer shopping: got my tablet repaired, no new screen for Didi however. Walked over 12 K throuhg town. Calgary seems a very livable city. Having a nice IPA now. Planning to take the taxi back at 8.
Met up with Lauretta, Steph and Luts.

Dimings in Chinatown, cab back to the camp ground, slice of pizza, guitar with singing Kerry (Scotland; we rehearsed a couple of songs; gonna make it in Vegas in August 😀).
Group process is going well. By now everybody knows eachother well enough to handle things well. I dislike nobody.
Could not catch the sleep though. First time on the trip. Can't explain.

3/7

Rose at 7.00. Cold pizza for breakfast. Packed and left at 9.00.
Arrived at the border round 14.00. Took over an hour to cross. Our campfire wood was not allowed in....
Now in a little town called Shelby for shopping and wifi. Wildcamping tonight. Laterz...
Found a very nice spot to camp, dinner and slept like a log again.
