Week 25, Peru, Bolivia

21/11

Long, long day.... here we go...
Rose late, slept in till 9.00. Breakfast in the bar of the hostel, shower, jeans to the clothing repair department of the San Pedro market, ATM, booked a city tour, ran into <whats her name, we also met at the lake 69 hike>, back to the hostel to pack for the city tour, coffee at Los Balcones, where i made a new friend...

Let me tell you about the city tour: there is so much inca related archeology here, that i decided to do it all in one afternoon. Together with a zillion other tourists.
So, here it is. We (as a group) met at the plaza San Francisco and walked up to the Qorikancha temple/cathedral (the spanish constructed their churches on the fundaments of inca buildings) ...

With explanations of Regina , the tourguide ...

Then the bus to Q'enqo...

Say hello to Pascaline from France...

Next stop: Saqsayhuaman (to be pronounced as "sexy woman")...

Then up to Tambomachay ...

And then Puka Pukara

Felipe from Brazil. He and his mates had a mobile bar ... thanks for the wodka-red bull guys!

Finally we were offered some coca tea... oh yeah.. and if we wanted to buy some clothes.... told you it was touristic!

Well, you all can see all the tourist in the pictures, but ... one advantage... you meet new fellow travelers as well. And i had a good time with Pascaline (from France) and Felipe (from Brazil) ...

The united nations in practice!

At 18.30 the bus returned to Cuzco, where we arrived at 19.00.
Said goodbye to Felipe and Pascaline, tipped Regina and went to the beerhouse for a great steak and a red lager.

21.30 back at the hostel, update blog in the bar on the 3rd floor. So tired now.... sleepzzzz...

22/11

Rose at 8.00, showered. Going to breakfast at the hostel and then out for coffee at starbucks, laterz...
...or so i thought...
Just layed down for a short nap, after reading the news and.... slept until 13.00! You're getting old Witvoet!

So, coffee was at 13.30... sat down in the sun on the plaza d'armas, facebooked over a red lager on the balcony of Nortons pub ...

and .... doozed off again... what's happening to me...

19.00 Back at the hostel, spaghetti carbonara, 2 beers, got involved in an interesting discussion about music on fb, well .. time to go to bed again now... laterzzz...

Kept on watching youtube movies in my bed until 2.00 or so...

23/11

Woke up at 8.00, did the media and rose at 8.45. Breakfasted, facebooked the musicgroups where i became a member of 2 days ago.
Strolled into town, coffee at starbucks ... do you see a pattern already... well, i do. It's time to move on i guess.

Anyway, another day of a trolling through town, sipping a beer at Nortons, showered and packed for tomorrow, ate a burger in town.
Last picture of the plaza by night ...

Back in the hostels bar. 1 beer, update blog and an early night its gonna be (i think). Laterz..

24/11

Rose at 5.15. Packed, got a small breakfast (tea and cake) from the guy at reception, reunited with Richard and Bijan, on the van to the truck, packed the truck and on the road to Puno. Long drive, but it felt good to be on the road again.

Arrived in Puno at 17.00 or so. Checked in (nice hostel, share a room with Pauwel), went to town with Richard, Pauwel and Ally for a drink and a bite. Forgot to take pictures. Good conversation about music and the group. Back at the hostel, last Corona with Richard, slept good.

25/11

Rose at 7.45, showered, breakfasted. Waiting to be picked up for the trip to lake Titikaka and the reed islands. Laterz...

LakeTitikaka was nice. Here are some pictures...

Back on mainland, Richard and I went to the market to have his backpack repaired.
After that a walk to the main plaza, where a parade was going on...

A beer in a bar and a nap in the hostel completed the afternoon... Laterz.

18.00 dinner with Dario, Bijan and Richard. A very nice pollo it was. Richard and i went for a beer afterwards and found a very obscure bar/nightclub, where we had a drink. We were the only customers in the beginning and when we left we were the only non-teenagers... felt like a dirty old man 😉.

On the way back we ran into this funfare, where we took a look...

Back at the hostel, an early night. Slept good.

26/11

Rose at 6.00, breakfasted at the hostel, packed, packed the truck, and off we went to the border.
It is a natonal holiday, so we had to make some strange moves to park the truck, walk to the border to get the stamps for out and in, which took about 3 hours. While queing we took turns to have lunch and i made another friend...

Lets not talk about the guy that got drunk at the border, nor the one that should have had his visa arranged...
Then we thought we could cross the border, but ... papers missing, stamps missing, Jono going back... and more waiting at this garbage dump ...

Well, we hope to be in La Paz by 22.00, but i doubt it. Good thing Dario found this little coffee tienda... thx dude. Still waiting ... laterz...

Arrived here in the hotel Sagarnaga at 20.30.

Earlier than expected... share a room with Hugo and Pauwel.
Had a beer in the lounge, walked up and down the street, little meeting about the bike trip (im not going to do, since the price is $150,- ... too much for a biketrip).  Slept early, but not good... running up and down the toilet ... yes,  diarea again... grrrr.

27/11

Rose at 8.00, but felt sick... tried a little breakfast,  but went back to bed at 10.00, to sleep till 12.00. Took paracetamol and anti diarea stuff and that helped a bit.

At 13.00 i did a little stroll, around this part of town ...

and got a haircut ...

Back at the hostel at 18.00, some small talk with some group members, 1 glass of wine and off to bed again. This time i slept really well... for almost 9 hours straight!

See you next week!
