Week 35, Paraguay, Brazil, Argentina, Brazil

30/1

Woke up at 7.00, but dozed until 8.00. Had breakfast, did the media and went off to town around 10.00. Changed a little extra money (had some euro's left, but got a bad rate... oh well). Strolled around for a couple of hours...

Also went to the poor neighborhoods....My God...

What struck me most was a beautiful young girl (late tens, early twenties), sleeping on the pavement, blood pouring from wounds in her arms. Drug addicted probably. Nobody seemed to care. Didn't have the guts to take a picture, but the image is burned into my brain. So sad!

Walked back to the hostel round 15.00. Its warm and humid.  Found a nice cafetaria where i sipped a beer. Checked the life of my fb friends up there. Now upating blog and about to publish week 34. Laterz...

Went to the supermarket for a cheap meal (ran out of Paraguayan money and we cross the border tomorrow, so ...), sipped a last beer in the garden, checked fb and the news, went to bed, episode of Torchwood and slept like a baby!

Oh yeah, my internet providr (ZIGGO) blocked my email! Why? They (better: their "safety system") found out (after 7 months (!!!!)) that i accessed my email account from different ip adresses (which is logical.... i traveled for 1000's of miles!!). I have to change my passwords to unblock it. To do that i need my old passwords and... i don't have them at hand, so.... no email access! What an amateurs! So mad at them now!!! They're idiots!!

31/1

Rose at 6.15, showered, packed, breakfasted, and on the way to our last country... Brasil! Long drive to the border, where we arrived at 16.30 or so. Crossing went smoothly,  found an ATM , to get Brazilian reals,  and onwards to our campground. Dinner, and now WiFi - ing in the campsite's bar over a cold beer. Trying to write a long message to the idiots of Ziggo, to unblock my email account. Getting some sleep now. Laterz!!

Managed to unblock my email (by guessing paswords!!), last beer in the bar and a good night of sleep!

1/2

Rose at 8.15. It's one hour later here and i stayed up late, so... slept in a bit. Breakfast was included,  showered, read the news.
Then to the waterfalls of Foz do IguaƧu . Man, what an experience. It's one of the (natural) 7 wonders of the world. Take a look...

We also did a boat trip (wet version), but we could take phones or cameras. Too bad, coz it was sensational. Bit pricey, but .... oh wait, there is the stingy dutchman again... hihi.
Went  back to the campsite with Ken. Warm!!
Got a cool beer in the bar, Nienke had made some dinner (thx),  checked the media, updating blog now. Laterz...

Slept like an idiot ...

2/2

Rose at 7.30, breakfasted and at 8.30 we left for the IguaƧu falls once again. This time the Argentinian side. So, we had to do 2 more border crossings, but the mini van driver took care of that. And it was worth it ... take a look ...

Amazing huh? Strolled around all day.

Picked up at 5, and taken back into Brazil.
Annette and Wiebke cooked a nice dinner, a beer in the bar, an episode of Torchwood and a good sleep.

3/2

Rose at 4.45, packed my gear, had a coffee, packed Russ tent (that i borrow, since mine is broken (by him)), (re)packed the truck and on the way now for 2 wild camps. First we had to pick up Bob, Linda and Glyn. That took an hour (due to some miscommunication i guess). Oh, welll, laterz...

So, long drive, several stops at gas stations and found a really nice "wild" camp spot (close to a hotel , with wifi, toilets and good showers ... so much for "wild").

Nice dinner, with salmon,  now updating blog and doing the media. Laterz...

Slept like an idiot.

4/2

Rose at 5.40, breakfasted, packed, found an old toilet building (with propeerly functioning toilets (hotel wasn't open yet)), packed the truck and on our way now to the next, and last (!) wildcamp. Laterz...

Nice lunch at a little local restaurant. Nice sunset too ...

Thanks Glyn for this very nice picture ...

Then the rest of the long drive and finally, at 8.00 pm we found a small campground. Setup camp, no kitchen. We found a nice place for dinner though. Had a nice meal with Bob and Linda.
Last beer with Bob at the campsite and a good sleep.

5/2

Rose at 7.30. Simple breakfast and on the way for the last short part to Paraty. Nice views along the way ...

Arrived at the campground round 13.00, setup tent, little stroll through town, got some money from the ATM,  did the media at the campground, fell asleep.
Dinner was a nice spaghetti. Going to check out town now. Sounds like there's a samba festival... let's see..

And nice it was. Music everywhere, ran into Bijan and Sharon ...

...  nice cocktails (loaded with alcohol ... hips), anyway ... here's some pictures ...

Returned round 12.00 and slept like an idiot ...

See you next week ...
